VOLUNTEERS and INTERNSHIPS

FilSTAR is currently seeking interns and volunteers. If you are interested in becoming involved, please contact Katrina Pestaño at youth@fcseattle.org.

Interns and volunteers can provide any and all of the following:

1.      Logistical support:

• Provide rides to youth participants
• Bring food for a session, event or meeting
• Set-up and clean-up for events

2.      Media/Outreach:

• Distribute posters and flyers about Filstar programs and events
• Present and/or table at school and community events
• Maintain online presence (update website, Facebook and Twitter, email blasts and listserves)
• Compile contacts and community resources Write press release(s)
• Photo and/or video documentation of events
• Maintain media archives

3.      Fundraising/Development:

• Plan fundraising events such as car wash, bake sales, etc.
• Acquire donations from local business (cash or in-kind)
• Sell refreshments and merchandise at community events
• Grant writing

4.      Program support:

• Develop and/or facilitate culturally relevant and age appropriate trainings, workshops and activities
• Compile presentations and handouts for curriculum
• Schedule and facilitate committee meetings

5.   Steering Committee:

• Set guidelines and expectations for the program
• Take lead of a committee
• Coordinate short-term or long-term projects to develop, strengthen and expand programming
• Outreach to community organizations for support
• Provide access to resources
• Program assessment
• Form FilSTAR Youth Advisory Board
